Sarabhanga was a revered Kulapathi, the head of the sages residing in the Dandaka forest. When Lord Rama planned to visit him, he pondered over an appropriate offering, for one should never visit elders empty-handed. However, Sarabhanga was not in a stage of life where he needed any material offerings.
